Why We Oppose Votes For Men

1.

Because man's place is in the army.

2.

Because no really manly man wants to settle any question otherwise than by fighting about it.

3.

Because if men should adopt peaceable methods women will no longer look up to them.

4.

Because men will lose their charm if they step out of their natural sphere and interest themselves in other matters than feats of arms, uniforms and drums.

5.

Because men are too emotional to vote. Their conduct at baseball games and polit |ical_conventions shows this, while their Innate tendency to appeal to force renders |them_particularly unfit for the task of government.

PHOENIX WOMAN BEATS FIRING BY CITY, THEN HELPS IN UNION VICTORY

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LNS) For Hawaiian-born unionist Barbara Makunul, an April 11 success by city workers in Phoenix, Arizona has been a personal as well as union victory.

Two months before, city officials had tried to fire Makunui. Her supervisor "told me at the start he didn't want a woman" in the City Materials Testing Laboratory, she recalls. He then misrepresented her work, she says, in order to get her dismissed.

Makunui sued and forced the city to give her back pay as well as re-instatement in another position. Now, as a member of the negotiating team of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, she has helped win union representation and contract benefits for three thousand other workers in Phoenix as well.

TEXTBOOK WRITER REGRETS SEXIST PAST

NEW YORK(CUP/LNS) The creator of children's "Dick and Jane" readers says if she could do it all over again, she'd do it differently

Elizabeth Rider Montgomery, who for four decades has written about the exploits of Dick, Jane, Sally and Spot, says she agrees with the criticism that the books are sexist.

"If I were writing the books now, I'd have father washing dishes, or mother mowing the lawn,” Montgomery explains. "Better yet, both mother and father doing things together like fixing the car.
